Born and bred in Springfield, Missouri, Cory Sponsler always snuck around with his father’s camera equipment. Cory went on and study and graduate with a BFA in Digital Cinema at DePaul University in Chicago where he fell in love with the impulsivity of photography classes. After his first class with film photography, he persuaded his dad to finally hand down his old Canon A1 for his studies. While trudging through his degree, Cory fell in love with photography, and the tactile, connective nature of film. Through his work, Cory hopes to personify and give life to the inanimate and under seen. Whether photographing liminal spaces or suburban sprawls, he aims to capture the textures of everyday life.
